LSU Gymnastics will not advance to the national championship after scoring a 197.5250 overall, placing them third in the evening session of the 2025 NCAA Championship Semifinals.
The Tigers performed on the uneven bars to begin the night, an event where they struggled to stick their landings. With a 49.3250 even total, they were in third place behind UCLA and Michigan State.
The second rotation had LSU on the balance beam, where sophomore Konnor McClain earned the highest score from the team with a 9.9000. Haleigh Bryant scored a 9.8750 in the fifth spot just before Aleah Finnegan ended the rotation with a 9.2250 as a result of a fall from the beam.
After the first two rotations, LSU was in last place with a total score of 98.6500.
Finnegan redeemed herself on the floor in the third rotation with a 9.9375 in the fifth spot, which propelled the Tigers to second place, only behind UCLA.
LSU’s final rotation was on vault, where freshman Kailin Chio scored a 9.9750, which landed her the 2025 NCAA vault title. The last time a Tiger took home a vault title was freshman Haleigh Bryant in 2021.
The Tigers ended the final rotation with a team score of 49.3750, which could not put them over the edge of UCLA and Utah.
If the Tigers had competed in the afternoon session, they would have advanced to the championship, placing fourth overall between both sessions.
LSU finishes the season as the fifth best team in the country, regular season champions, winners of the SEC Championship, and as the first No. 1 seed in program history.
