LSU and Tennessee are some of the best programs in college baseball right now and they wouldn’t be where they are at if it weren’t for some help from some great freshmen.

LSU’s Casan Evans has become one of the best reliever’s in the country. He has a 0.67 era through 12 appearances. His fastball can get up to 97 mph which makes him a nightmare for opposing batters.

LSU’s William Schmidt is another great freshman pitcher for the Tigers. He currently has a 3.95 era with a 6-0 record. Schmidt brings a fastball that reaches into the high 90’s along with his great curveball.

After a bad outing versus Alabama, Schmidt looks to bounceback versus Tennessee.

For Tennessee, utility player Manny Marin has been hot from the plate as of late. In his last 10 appearances he is batting .320 with four RBI’s. He mainly plays in the hot corner and he’s had four errors over his last five games.

LSU can take advantage of this by hitting balls his way.

Next is Chris Newstrom, an outfielder batting .400 with eight RBI’s. He was very hot, but once he got ill he missed some games and cooled off. He looks to find his footing again and get back to raking.

LSU takes on Tennessee it what looks to be a heavyweight matchup. Expect this freshmen to make their impact felt over the weekend.
