LSU Softball Head Coach Beth Torina spoke to the media after her team’s 8-7 walk-off loss to Southeastern, eliminating the Tigers from the 2025 National Championship Tournament.
Saturday night was a back-and-forth game, with LSU going down and coming back on three separate occasions. However, her team was unable to get out from under the suffocating pressure of the Lions.
“They just don’t give you any room to breathe,” Torina said of the Lions. “Any bobble, they capitalize on every single thing you do.”
Torina’s team would enter the bottom of the 7th inning with their ace, Sydney Berzon, in the circle, however the Senior would load the bases before a Fielder’s Choice would end the game and the season for the Tigers.
“She’s battled for us and given us everything she has,” Torina said of Berzon. “But I don’t think she’s been at 100% in a while.”
Although it is not the end to the season the Tiger’s we’re looking for, Torina believes there is still much to take away from the Tigers 42-16 season.
“I know now it’s hard to take the forest for the trees,” Torina said. “But this program grew this year, and this program will be better for it.”
On the opposite side, Southeastern now prepares for another date with Nebraska on Sunday, having to win two games if they wish to each the first Super Regional in program history.
