LSU Baseball Head Coach Jay Johnson talked to the media before heading to Omaha to play Arkansas in Game One.
Johnson has the highest level of respect for the Razorbacks and believed from the beginning they were going to meet up in the College World Series.
“It felt like this was inevitable. You know, whether it was going to be game one or the finals, so let’s do it in Game One,” Johnson said.
He mentioned how each time he has made it through the Finals, he has competed through the losers bracket. Then, jokingly said he would like to experience the winner’s bracket, and this could be his chance to.
“I would like to try the deal [CWS] through the winner’s bracket just to see how it feels,” Johnson said.
Besides Omaha, Johnson briefly spoke about the new House settlement. There is too much that is undetermined for him to seriously start making recruitment changes, but it has been a thought occasionally.
“I really still don’t have a full answer of scholarship rules,” Johnson said.
Johnson noted he will gladly talk about some transfer portal guys after Omaha because he wants the 2024-2025 team to be the media’s focus for now.
