LSU Baseball Outfielders Josh Pearson and Chris Stanfield spoke with the media ahead of their battle against Arkansas to open LSU’s College World Series campaign Saturday.
The Tigers are making their second trip to Omaha in three years, with Josh Pearson being one of a select few Tigers to play in the 2023 CWS, where LSU took home their seventh National Championship.
LSU will face a familiar foe in the Arkansas Razorbacks, who the Tigers beat two games to one in the regular season series between the two teams.
This trip to Omaha has already come with a little silverware for Chris Stanfield, who was the inaugural recipient of the Tony Gwynn Community Service Award.
“It’s an incredible accomplishment and I’m very honored to be here,” Stanfield said. “Very honored for the campaign and over the last few years the impact it’s brought, thankful to the organizations for nominating me.”
Stanfield would quickly get back to the practice field where LSU got their final preparations in before Arkansas.
“They have a great staff, great team,” Stanfield said of the Hogs. “Lot of hard throwing guys with good stuff, but that’s what we’ve seen all year, so we’re prepared.”
The Hogs and the Tigers will take the field at 6 p.m. Saturday night in front of what will be a red-hot crowd at Charles Schwab Field.
