LSU assistant men’s basketball coach Yasir Rosemond has departed from LSU just under a month after his contract was approved by the university to join the Oregon program.
The Tigers had just hired Rosemond away from Indiana this offseason, where he’d been an associate head coach since 2022 and a member of the staff since 2021. LSU announced the hire in April, Rosemond signed his contract on June 1 and the LSU Board of Supervisors voted to approve the contract on June 27.
The opportunity to return to his alma mater was too good to pass up for Rosemond. He competed there as a player from 1997 to 1999 and returned from 2005 to 2010, first as director of basketball operations and eventually as an assistant coach.
According to Rosemond’s contract, he was set to make $550,000 in base salary and supplemental compensation across his two-year contract with LSU, which would’ve expired at the end of June 2027.
Rosemond has also coached at Alabama, Georgia and Samford.
