LSU men’s basketball transfer portal tracker: Will Wade adds first player

The college basketball transfer portal is now open, and with a new man in charge, there are big changes coming to the LSU men’s basketball program.

“We’re going to find 15 players that are willing to lay it on the line for us every night,” head coach Will Wade said at his introductory press conference.

This is the most pivotal offseason in recent memory for the program, as Wade is determined to win in year one.

Note that all classifications are from the players’ status during the 2025-26 season.

Outgoing

Matt Gilhool — Forward, freshman

Mazi Mosley — Guard, freshman

Jalen Reed — Forward, redshirt junior

Dedan Thomas Jr. — Guard, junior

Ron Zipper — Guard, freshman

Why did you join the Reveille?

I keep up with all LSU sports and figured joining the Reveille would be the best way for me to voice my analysis and give the most fair and in-depth coverage possible to keep fans informed.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I will be a sports reporter for a major media outlet, continuing to use the skills and experience gained with the Reveille. I would like to still cover LSU sports, but would be more than happy to report for any professional sports league or another collegiate program.

I wanted an opportunity to expand my knowledge on photography and see what the world of journalism was like.

I hope to eventually work in athletics, whether that be for collegiate or professional teams or continue in the world of journalism.
