The LSU Presidential Search Committee announced a revised schedule for meetings, as it moves into the final stages of selection.
The update to the schedule is to allow for the upper administration to travel to the White House with the baseball team on Oct. 20 to celebrate its national championships, committee chair Scott Ballard said.
Ballard said they will hold two additional meetings to make up for the missed meeting that would have occurred on Oct. 20.
The committee will now meet on Oct. 23 to review feedback and decide on the individuals who will be asked to formally apply for the position. The committee will hold interviews with the applicants on Oct. 29 and select three finalists to present to the Board of Supervisors. The board will make the final decision on who will be the next president in a special session.
LSU said they are committed to making the search process inclusive and transparent in a press release.
Christel Slaughter, the CEO of the consulting firm chosen to select candidates, SSA Consulting, said she is grateful for all time and commitment the committee members and stakeholders have given during the search.
“The next president of LSU will play a pivotal role in leading our institution into its next era of excellence in education, research and service,” Slaughter said.
Once finalists are selected, a series of meetings will be held with key stakeholders including members of the Board of Supervisors, university chancellors, Boyd professors, faculty, staff, students and donors.
The Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting dedicated to deciding on the next president from the selected candidates.
On Oct. 9 the Student Senate passed a bill calling for more student involvement in the search process. The search committee has not responded to this bill.
