LSU will host open forums for four finalists for its open provost and senior vice chancellor position over the next two weeks, it announced Thursday in an internal email.
The finalists will each have a day set aside with three forums in the Student Union where they’ll field questions from university students, faculty and staff, respectively.
The four days set aside are May 5, 6, 8 and 12. The first three dates fall during finals week at LSU, while the last one is after the fall semester ends.
On each of those days, the student forum will take place at 9 a.m., with the staff forum at 10:45 a.m. and the faculty forum at 12:45 p.m.
The forums will also be livestreamed, LSU said.
LSU did not immediately identify the four finalists for the position “to ensure a thoughtful and consistent process,” but said names would be released shortly before each candidate’s visit.
LSU’s former provost was Roy Haggerty, who left for the same position at Oregon State University in May shortly before former LSU President William Tate IV left for Rutgers University.
Troy Blanchard, formerly the dean of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, has since served as the interim provost. It’s not clear if Blanchard is a finalist for the permanent position.
The provost serves as the top academic officer on LSU’s Baton Rouge campus under the chancellor.
