LSU football head coach Brian Kelly spoke to the media after the Tigers second loss this season against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
The fanbase is frustrated because they were expecting a National Championship caliber team, and, as of right now, this team is far from that.
“Our last nine quarters of offense have been trending to where we need to be,” Brian Kelly said about their execution against the Commodores.
While the Tiger offense does seem to be progressing, the defense struggled to contain Diego Pavia and his offense from a few explosive plays. Kelly emphasized how both sides of the ball need to work together.
“I think I’ve said it more than once that we haven’t played that complimentary football where both sides are hitting on all cylinders.”
There is no doubt that the roster is stacked with talent, so many are blaming the Bayou Bengals lack of success on the coaches’ play calling. Kelly does not like to get too involved with in-game situations, but he does have a heavy hand in game planning throughout the week.
“Believe me, I’m on both sides of the ball and special teams. I’m hearing it, listening to it. I have veto power, and I think, from my perspective, that’s the best place for me.”
In the midst of all the different components of this team that need fine tuning, LSU will host No. 3 and undefeated Texas A&M in Death Valley at 6:30 PM.
