The Student Senate met Wednesday to fill vacancies in the Senate, vote on their budget and appoint new members to the executive branch.
During the meeting, Sen. Corbitt Driskell presented SGB 10, which was to amend this year’s Student Government fiscal budget.
This was following the release of this semester’s 14-day numbers, data that reflects the amount Senate spent over a two-week period that can be used to predict the whole year. Pre-calculated budget numbers were lower than members of the Budget and Appropriations committee projected, causing them to have to reallocate to fix this. This passed unanimously at 49-0-0.
Regarding SGCR 113-118, there were two individuals appointed to vacant senate seats within the College of Agriculture: Benjamin Goldstein and Valerio Luftig. Anna Faz and Trenton Hew were appointed to fill a vacancy within the College of Engineering.
Under the legislation, Akeyna Travis was also appointed to fill a vacancy within the University College and Cydni Haynes was appointed to fill a vacancy within the Manship School of Mass Communication. These appointments all passed unanimously.

Mobolaji Jekami was appointed to the position of coordinator of International Student Affairs. Peace Chuku will now serve as the position of assistant coordinator of International Student Affairs and Madison Nguyen will serve as the assistant coordinator of Philanthropy.
Luke Westmorland is now the new assistant coordinator of Safety and Transportation and Yana Saint-Louis will now be the assistant coordinator of Student Rights & Engagement. Tranyce Ginn was appointed assistant coordinator of Workforce Development and John Earle was appointed to the position of assistant director of Public Policy.
Alongside this, Senators Joshua Jones and Taylor Howard presented SGR 8, which urged and requested LSU Faculty to incorporate more service-learning opportunities into their classrooms. This bill was passed by unanimous consent.
Senators Womack and Cerquone presented SGR 9, which requests the LSU Presidential Search Committee to remain transparent regarding the process. This comes after committee members were required to sign nondisclosure agreements.
