The LSU Men’s Basketball season is just around the corner, and they have a new yet familiar face on the staff.
Thornton transferred to LSU right before his junior season in 2008, after attending JUCO Killgore College, where he averaged 19.6 points per game.
When asked about going through the junior college route, Thornton said, “It was something that had to be done. I never regret it. It helped me become a man”.
Thornton was also asked how his game would translate to the league today, and he said, “It would translate perfect. All they do is shoot threes and layups”.
Thornton spoke with confidence, but he has the proof to back up his statement. Thornton had an 8-year NBA career where he contributed to his team’s offense every season averaging 12 points per game on 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from three.
Thornton felt nostalgic about his time at LSU and talked about his favorite memory. He said, “Every time I look in the stands I see my family and just having their support every home game”.
With only two returning players on LSU’s roster, Thornton definitely won’t be the only new face in the PMAC.
Coach Thornton and the LSU Tigers will have their first game against Tarleton State on November 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the PMAC.
