This past weekend book lovers and authors had the opportunity to come together in downtown Baton Rouge for the annual Louisiana Book Festival.
The festival consisted of different authors, writers, and book lovers. They even had live performances, a cooking show, and many different tents for people to sit under. Authors even signed copies when readers purchased their books.
It was a little bit of something for everyone.
For many authors it was an event to get the word out but for one author, Andrea Wren, it was not just a festival but a special moment.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for me because this is my first time being here. It really gives my book the exposure that it needs. It allows me to do some marketing for myself as an author and to get my name out there,” Wren said.
Wren is the author of three different books. The books include: Maggie the Bee Charmer, Isabella the Belle of Ironwood, and Bless.
One attendee, Jeanine Plante, says the best part wasn’t the festival itself, but it was seeing the authors support one another.
“I was sitting, waiting to purchase a book from someone and I noticed that she was educating another author on how to publish his books in a manner that would get more widespread attention. So, it’s just that collaboration that the authors are showing amongst each other,” Plante said.
The Louisiana Book Festival was really the place to be for the community. It was a reminder that stories are never too far from being finished.
