Following a 75-74 buzzer-beating loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, LSU players Max Mackinnon, Rashad King, and Marquel Sutton spoke to the media.
What could have potentially been LSU’s first win in SEC play was turned around as the Kentucky Wildcats marched back from double figures and hit a two-point game-winning shot.
King spoke to the media about what he thinks after Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno hit the shot to seal the game.
“We kind of went out there and kept things in front of us,” King said. “Play hard to the end. No fouls. It was just tough. A tough shot. We just got unlucky right there.”
Mackinnon ended the night with 16 points, but felt the first half was a lot better than the second as the team began slowing down while Kentucky was catching up.
“In the first half, we were better offensively,” Mackinnon said. “To get stagnant, we’ll watch the film, take the positives and negatives of it, and we’ll get better.”
With Missouri coming up, the Tigers won’t be able to dwell on the past. Now, it’s just focusing on having a good first and second half to come out with a win.
“We can’t go back in time and change what happened,” Sutton said. “I feel like we have to come out Saturday like we did the first half today, and we have to play like that in both halves and not just in one half.”
“We gotta flush it and move on,” Mackinnon said. “We have Missouri coming here Saturday, and it’s a must-win.”
LSU will take on Missouri in the PMAC on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
