LSU’s Women’s Basketball team earned their fifth victory in SEC play on Monday night after beating the Florida Gators 89-60.
Jada Richard would earn her first game as LSU’s top scorer with 20 points, with teammates Milaysia Fulwiley and Milayah Williams following close behind. Amiya Joyner would also record her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
“LSU’s offense is the No.1 offense in the country for a reason,” Florida Women’s Basketball head coach Kelly Rae Finley stated. While the Tigers were able to get things started offensively, Florida was having trouble.
The Gators were outscored in every quarter of the game, resulting in them only shooting 36% from field goal range and a lower 26% from the 3-point line. However, Florida came out in the second half and forced LSU to turn over the ball multiple times, but the point deficit was too large for them to crawl back from.
“I feel like a lot of our turnovers are unforced,” Jada Richard said. “I feel like once we clean that up, clean up some transition defensive points, we will find our way back into our mode defensively.”
The Tigers face Arkansas at home, where they will attempt to keep their 3-game win streak alive.
