Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge is helping homeowners across the city to stay safe by providing free critical home repairs.
The nonprofit serves elderly, veteran, and disabled homeowners who may not be able to afford necessary repairs. Projects include lighting and flooring improvement, as well as wheelchair ramp construction.
Executive Director Kristopher Lewis Sr. said the organization has worked in the Baton Rouge area for 20 years to help residents remain safe in their homes.
“It’s been wonderful…I love it… I was scared to go up and down steps in that wheelchair, and this helps me a lot,” homeowner Luella Williams said.
The repairs are completed with the help of volunteers and community donations as the need for accessible housing continues to grow.
