Journalist and former LSU student Don Lemon has been released on bond after a federal court hearing in Los Angeles.
Lemon was arrested early Friday morning and is facing several charges for conspiring to violate someone’s constitutional rights and violating the FACE Act, which prohibits the use of force or threats to interfere with someone expressing their right to religion.
Lemon was fired from CNN in 2023 and says he has no affiliation with the organization when he entered the church and was working as an independent journalist.
Abbe Lowell, Lemon’s attorney, said that Don Lemon will fight these charges “vigorously and thoroughly in court.”
Alongside Lemon, a civil rights attorney and two other involved in the protest have been arrested.
They are accused of civil rights violations for disruption of the church service at the city’s church in St. Paul.
The church in St. Paul, a local official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement serves as the pastor.
Lemon will face no pretrial intervention.
