Late Tuesday night, the LSU Tigers faced the Arkansas Razorbacks in an SEC matchup at the PMAC.
From tipoff to the final buzzer, Arkansas maintained its dominant lead throughout the game, with help from Razorback guard Darius Acuff Jr., who played a strong game, having 28 points and five assists. He continued to show his ball-handling skills and shooting capabilities during meaningful moments in the game.
Arkansas’s Trevon Brazile was also a key contributor to the team by achieving a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He played strong defense and had five blocks that helped bring the ball back to the Arkansas net.
Although LSU tried, they struggled to stop the two razorbacks, especially in the second half.
“We had some opportunities on the offensive glass, we had some opportunities around the rim, but their rim protection, led by Brazile, we just could not finish around the basket. On a night where you are really struggling from the three-point line, it’s difficult to keep up,” LSU Head Coach Matt McMahon stated.
For the Tigers, forward Marquel Sutton scored 18 points and had six rebounds during the game. He was applying himself on defense and caused a few turnovers for Arkansas.
LSU’s Pablo Tamba had a tough game where he scored all 11 of his points in only the first half. LSU began to separate itself from Arkansas just after Tamba had a major flagrant one foul towards the end of the game. After this, the team’s momentum took a drastic blow, and they were never able to catch up to the Razorbacks.
Arkansas ended up beating LSU 91-62, solidifying its second win against the Tigers in the last two weeks.
The Tigers are going to need to fix their shooting capabilities and begin to shift their focus after their last few difficult games.
Stay tuned as LSU will play Tennessee this Saturday in Knoxville at 5:00 CST.
