LSU Gymnastics has proven once again why they are one of the best in the Southeastern Conference after a 198.200 win during the Podium Challenge. Sunday night’s score signified the team’s second highest score all season, with the first happening most recently on the road against Oklahoma.
The quad-style meet against Arizona, North Carolina, and Alabama gave the Tigers a taste of what post season play should look like.
With two meets within a 48 hour span, fans wondered how the Tumbling Tigers would step to the bar. Even facing the No.3 Alabama Crimson Tide twice in one weekend, the Tigers stepped up and held their ground at home territory.
The Tide was no match for the Tigers as they secured the team all around title, as well as individual victories in three out of four categories.
Amari Drayton started the team off hot by securing vault, followed by Kailin Chio with a perfect ten on beam, and Kylie Cohen with a career high of 9.975 on floor to seal the deal.
Head Coach Jay Clark credited Cohen on her artistic ability on the floor exercise which sets her apart from the rest that ultimately allowed her to secure her career high.
“She blows people away with that leap series at the end. People don’t realize, it’s easy to be enamored with the tumbling skills on the floor but it’s so much more than that.” Said Clark
“When I go out there, I know I’m doing it for the twenty other girls that are out there on the sideline,” Spoke Cohen when asked about her motivation going into the floor exercise to close out the meet.
As only two meets remain in the 2026 regular season, Tiger fans are really looking to see the team continue to build on this momentum as they head into post season conference championships.
The Tumbling Tigers will be back on the road to Gainesville for another top ten matchup, this time against the No.4 ranked Florida Gators 5 P.M CT on SEC Network.
