To close the series, LSU took its third loss against Texas A&M on Sunday. After this weekend, their record is now 23-18 overall with a 6-12 record in conference play.
This loss brings the Tigers to a 0-6 record in their past two SEC series, as they continue to struggle throughout the season.
Caden Sorrell got the Aggies started early, firing off a solo shot to right field, scoring a run in the first inning. Caden wasn’t the only one to knock in a homerun this game, as Chris Hacopian would hit a homerun of his own, scoring two runs in the process, against LSU starting pitcher Zach Cowan.
After allowing four runs, on the top of the fourth, the Tigers would switch pitchers, switching to Deven Sheerin. Sheerin had a big impact for the Tigers as he would only allow one more run in the four innings he pitched.
The Aggies would score again in the fourth inning off a Gavin Grahovac single that scored catcher Bear Harrison. Although the Aggies wouldn’t score again, the lead would prove too big for the Tigers to catch up.
The Tigers’ offense didn’t quite reach the bar the defense set as they would stop the Aggies’ scoring in the fourth but wouldn’t score themselves until the eighth. Cade Arrimbide would score off a solo homerun. Due to a wild pitch by Clayton Freshcorn, that would allow Curiel to run home.
LSU takes on New Orleans on Tuesday in hopes of rounding out the edges on its recent struggles. After this, the Tigers will take on their next conference matchup when they travel to Starkville to challenge Mississippi State.
