LSU ultimately succumbed to Alabama int he second half as the Crimson Tide took home a 38-17 win.
The Tigers couldn’t overcome two first half turnovers — including a fumble on the three yard line by senior fullback J.C. Copeland — in the loss.
The vaunted Alabama defense shut down sophomore running back Jeremy Hill and the rest of the Tiger runners, limiting the Tigers to 74 yards on the ground.
The Crimson Tide converted a fake punt on fourth down early in the third quarter, extending the drive where they eventually scored a touchdown to take the lead for good.
After falling behind 31-17 with 10:31 left in the fourth quarter, junior wide receiver gave the LSU offense a chance to make it a one score game, but three straight incompletions by senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger led to a turnover on downs.
The Alabama offense was able to close out the game from there scoring a touchdown to extend the lead to 38-17, handing the Tigers their third loss in Southeastern Conference play.
