Students can soon add “pwning noobs” to the list of stress-relieving activities on campus.
University Auxiliary Services plans to expand the Tiger Pause game room to include video game consoles, such as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and maybe a Wii, according to Executive Director of University Auxiliary Services Jason Tolliver.
Tiger Pause will expand toward the Student Union Barbershop to make room for the new gaming systems, Tolliver said.
Tiger Pause will not only provide video games, but will also feature Internet capabilities, such as Xbox LIVE, Tolliver said.
Use of the consoles will not follow a pay-to-play policy. Instead, students will simply be required to present their student ID at the desk.
Tolliver said he cannot provide a date for when the renovations will begin because the schedule is highly tentative, but he confirmed that the renovations will begin in spring.
“They need to utilize this space in the Live Oak Lounge a lot better than they do,” said biology senior Colin Hyatt.
Roneshia Lewis, English freshman, said her tuition should be used in more productive areas.
“I love video games personally, but I think if I’m paying for the renovations, then no,” she said. “I think that money can be used elsewhere.”
