The Tigers 4 Tigers club is having a fundraiser Thursday night for hosting the national Tigers 4 Tigers coalition in the spring.
The summit allows students from 15 universities to come together and discuss ways to make a positive impact on tiger conservation.
Tigers are an endangered species. There are only about 3,200 tigers left in the wild, many face threats of habitat destruction, poaching or killing.
The Tigers 4 Tigers organization at LSU helped start the national coalition in 2013. This is the first year that LSU will be hosting the conference. The coalition will include guest speakers and special tours of Mike’s habitat.
“We like having him around campus because he’s treated the way a tiger should be treated,” Vice President of the club, Nicole Stagg said.
From 5 p.m. to 7 P.m., or “Yappy Hour,” 20% of proceeds earned from The Bulldog will be donated to the Tiger 4 Tiger’s budget for hosting the national coalition. The Bulldog is located at 4385 Perkins Road.
The club is also selling “Live Like Mike” shirts on there website: www.t4tlsu.org to raise money for hosting the summit.
