The LSU Board of Supervisors approved a measure to relocate the home and visitor bullpens in Alex Box Stadium during Friday’s board meeting.
The measure will move the home team bullpen to a “newly constructed area under the right-field bleachers” and the visiting team bullpen behind a new field wall to “improve safety,” according to the meeting agenda. The measure will also add approximately 160 new seats along the right and left field foul lines.
The lease for the new measure will be effective June 24 and the projected completion date is Feb. 1, 2025.
Construction costs for the project aren’t expected to exceed $3 million dollars, and all costs and expenses will be paid by Tiger Athletic Foundation from private funds.
LSU baseball recently began its 16th season at the new Alex Box Stadium after playing at the former Alex Box Stadium for 70 years. The Tigers continue its second weekend series of this season on Friday with a home game against Stony Brook at 2 p.m.
