College isn’t easy, especially when money is involved. For LSU students, this means balancing the textbook with the checkbook. Many students have to work two jobs just to get by. Stress and fatigue just come with the job.
LSU ranks fifth-lowest in terms of cost of attendance, though only 35 percent of students receive federal loans. For the average LSU student, their average debt can reach close to 19,000$. Of course scholarships and TOPS can help drive down costs.
But is it enough? Not everyone can take advantage of things like TOPS. Transfer and out-of-state students can take advantage of things like TOPS, which makes it even more difficult for students to afford college.
