Tiger TV announced that they will host the final 2015 Gubernatorial Debate before the election on Oct. 24. The station will broadcast the student-run debate statewide on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. from LSU’s Holliday Forum. It is expected to be the final debate broadcasted statewide. It will be followed by a mock, online election on lsureveille.com.
Tiger TV invited the top four candidates to participate in the debate based on the MRI survey conducted by Verne Kennedy.
Currently, Representative John Bel Edwards, Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle are participating in the debate. U.S. Senator David Vitter has not confirmed.
“We are overwhelmed by the candidate’s support of our efforts,” explains LSU senior and Tiger TV Station Manager Jeremy Krail.
Panelists led by Mitch Rabalais, LSU student and head moderator, will question the candidates. The panel will include Michael Marsh from WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Jim Hummel from KATC in Lafayette, Jeff Beimfohr from KTBS in Shreveport and a representative from WWL in New Orleans.
“It’s an honor to work next to some of the most respected names in Louisiana journalism. Even though this is a student-run debate, I am looking forward to a debate that will cover issues that aren’t just important to students, but to everyone in the state,” explains Rabalais.
The debate will cover topics ranging from higher education to poverty to Louisiana’s budget crisis, but Tiger TV is allowing anyone to submit a question for the debate by tweeting out a question to @lsutigertv with the hashtag #lsugovdebate.
The debate will air live in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, and Shreveport. It will also be watchable live online at tigertv.tv.
More information about the debate will be released on Twitter @lsutigertv.
