A University student was arrested after being identified from a broadcast e-mail released by the LSU Police Department.
On Feb. 27, 19-year-old general business student Nicholas Teachworth of 3904 James Drive, Metairie, was arrested and charged with theft.
LSUPD spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said LSUPD received a report on Feb. 7 in reference to a purse theft on a Tiger Trails bus. He said the credit card of the victim was used at several locations near campus after the theft.
Through further investigation, Lalonde said LSU obtained surveillance video of a possible suspect. A photo of the suspect was sent out in a broadcast e-mail to the University community on Feb. 27.
Lalonde said LSUPD received several phone calls in reference to the photo. He said investigators were able to identify the suspect as Teachworth.
Teachworth admitted to using the credit card after finding the purse.
He was arrested and charged with theft. Teachworth was issued a misdemeanor and released.
