Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden said tornadoes and other strong winds can be expected from midday Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday as Hurricane Isaac makes a direct hit on Baton Rouge.
Holden said the National Weather Service is watching the Baton Rouge area for tornado, tropical and hurricane force winds.
“The length of time we may see a lot of this bad weather is extended until 7 tomorrow morning,” Holden said.
Holden said Baton Rouge residents need to stay off roads as the conditions worsen and stay severe.
“Stay off the roads completely,” Holden said.
