A University environmental chemist just landed a $30,000 grant.
Recognized by the American Chemical Society, Barry Dellinger receives the grant money from Astellas USA, according to a University news release.
Dellinger is an authority on the environmental and health effects of combustion, according to the news release.
His research includes studying the formation of toxic combustion by-products, incineration of hazardous materials, combustion-generated nanoparticles and environmentally persistent free radicals, according to the news release.
“Professor Dellinger’s work has always struck a balance between environmental warnings and solutions,” said Isiah Warner, vice chancellor for Strategic Initiatives, in a news release. “Although his work is the basis of EPA regulations and used in industry, it is also quoted by environmental organizations to espouse the dangers of lack of vigilance.
The American Chemical Society is the largest scientific society worldwide.
