Lisa Delpit, an eminent urban scholar, will hold a discussion “Touched by Their Fire, Blinded by Their Brilliance: Re-imagining the Education of Urban Students,” from 5 to 7 p.m. today in Tiger Stadium’s Tiger Den Suites as the first Centennial Speaker to celebrate the LSU College of Education’s 100th anniversary.
Delpit, executive director of the Center for Urban Education and Innovation at Florida International University, is teaching classes and conducting research in the LSU College of Education as a visiting scholar during the spring 2008 semester, according to a news release.
Delpit, a Baton Rouge native, has researched and published books questioning the teaching methods used for black, minority or disadvantaged youth.
