Quote was taken out of contextWhen I was asked to give my opinion on what I thought about “LSU Salutes,” I was more than happy to do it. I was asked what I thought about it, and I said that I was very happy, and thought it was a great idea to honor our troops. I was then asked what I thought about ESPN’s GameDay not being on the Parade Grounds. I said that obviously I wished it was because Saturday’s game against Alabama was a huge deal, but I also said that I knew there must have been some sort of justification for it not being on the Parade Ground. It was then explained to me that the reason GameDay moved was because of “LSU Salutes” because I didn’t know why it was moved. In Monday’s article, I sounded like a jerk who cared more about GameDay not being in its normal spot than honoring the dedication and sacrifice of our armed forces. I simply did not know the reason for its relocation and once I found out, I had no problem with it. I would NEVER put GameDay above the celebration of the brave men and women who risk their lives for my freedom everyday. My great-grandfather served in the Navy during World War II, and my great-uncle was at the battle of Iwo Jima, and therefore, I have always understood the sacrifice that our armed forces make everyday. My quote was taken out of context in Monday’s article, and it is very hurtful to me that people think I am some idiot who just wants GameDay by their tailgating spot. That could not be farther from the truth, and my sincere hope is that the people who read this know that this is the real me, not the person people thought I was when they read the article at first. God bless our troops, and God bless America.Lindsay Hardimanhistory sophomore—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s opinion staff at [email protected]
