The Hornets picked up an NBA champion Wednesday after signing former Boston Celtic James Posey.
Posey, a 6-foot-8 inch forward, agreed to a four-year, $25 million contract with New Orleans, according to Posey’s agent, Mark Bartelstein.
Posey, 31, won his first NBA title in 2006 when he was a member of the Heat.
Bartelstein said Posey’s decision to sign with the Hornets was based on the ability for the team to win a championship.
“It was a really tough decision for him,” Bartelstein told the Associated Press. “Boston was an incredible experience for him every way you look at it. If he was going to leave Boston, he wanted to make sure it was for a team that would compete for a championship immediately and the Hornets certainly are in that world.”
