The University canceled fall break and amended the academic calendar for classes to be held on one of four Saturdays this semester to make up for the class days missed during Hurricane Gustav, according to a broadcast e-mail from Astrid Merget, provost and executive vice chancellor. The University Registrar will announce scheduling options next week. Classes may be made up on four Saturdays – Sept. 20, Oct. 4, 11 or 18. The amended schedule will not impact final exams, graduation winter session or winter holiday, according to the e-mail.”We recognize that there is no perfect solution to making up these days,” Merget wrote in the e-mail. “But, we feel that this is the best approach for meeting the mission of LSU as well as the goals of our faculty and students.”—–Contact Angelle Barbazon at [email protected]
