FRIDAY
Kendrick Lamar
One of the most talked about and talented rappers in today’s music world, Kendrick Lamar is arguably the biggest headliner of this year’s festival. Hailing from Compton, California, Lamar gained notoriety with his early mixtapes and has since released four record-breaking albums and taken home seven Grammys along the way. His new album, DAMN., dropped earlier this year, was packed with hits and featured the likes of Rihanna and U2. Attendees can expect a setlist with several songs off of the new record, sprinkled with earlier hits like “Swimming Pools (Drank).” Lamar is sure to bring raw emotion, power and his unparalleled rapping abilities to the Altar Stage at 9:30 p.m.
LCD Soundsystem
After a hiatus, LCD Soundsystem has reunited and is touring in support of its latest release and fourth studio album,“American Dream,” which went on to become the group’s first No. 1 album in the U.S. Its music can be best described as dance, rock punk with electronica and alternative influences. Listen to “Dance Yrself Clean” and “All My Friends” to get a feel for this eclectic group. LCD Soundsystem will perform before Kendrick Lamar’s set at 7 p.m. on the Altar Stage.
SATURDAY
Crystal Castles
Crystal Castles are a Canadian electronic duo known for inciting chaos among crowds with their loud, vibrant performances. After releasing a trilogy of albums, the duo’s sound has changed immensely since its inception. It can best be described as a cacophony of different noises that come together in an enjoyable, thrilling way — perfect for a live electronic show. Check out “Crimewave,” “Empathy” and “Vanished” for a taste of what to expect from the pair. Catch them at 8:30 p.m. on the Wisner Stage.
RL Grime
Henry Steinway, also known as RL Grime, made a name for himself in the world of hip-hop and trap music when his 2012 remix of Kanye West’s “Mercy,” hit millions of plays on SoundCloud. Now, after a slew of remixes, singles, EPs and two albums, RL Grime is sure to bring an exhilarating performance to the Le Plur Stage. If grimy, bass-heavy trap pleases your palate more than synth-heavy electronica, then RL Grime is the show to head to. Listen to Grime’s famous hit “Tell Me” to get amped for this set.
SUNDAY
The Killers
The Killers’ sound can be described as alternative indie-rock with a mix of new wave and post-punk revival. With a five album chart-topping discography, the band has a plethora of tracks to choose from for their show. Its first and arguably best-known record, “Hot Fuss,” includes smash hits “Mr. Brightside,” “Somebody Told Me,” and “All These Things That I’ve Done.” With new EP “Wonderful Wonderful” released in September, The Killers will likely mix new material with classic songs for its performance closing out the festival on the Altar Stage at 7:30 p.m.
