Josh Groban once again delivers a beautiful album of pop classical tracks to melt away stress. “Illuminations” is the first time Groban has worked with producer Rick Rubin, and the result is a delicate balance of sweeping operatic ballads and the occasional pop-driven song. “Illuminations” also does an excellent job of balancing the big, sweeping, over-the-top moments that Groban is so fond of with tempered, stripped down moments that showcase his incredible vocal talents just as well. Overall, this album is a fine addition to Groban’s previous body of work.
