With the first day of spring practice concluded, head coach Ed Orgeron is already excited about the new 2018 football season.
“The preparation that our coaches did going into this first practice was phenomenal. The execution today was ahead of where it is usually the first day,” Orgeron remarked.
With LSU having inconsistencies in their quarterback program for some years now, this seems to be a question at hand. When asked about quarterbacks Justin McMillan, Myles Brennan, and Lowell Narcisse, Orgeron responds, “You can tell that today was a high pressurized situation for all three of them. Some did better than others. You can tell the competition is on. You can tell when a guy makes a big play the other guy wants to step up and do it.”
With first spring practiced wrapped it seems as though the quarterback position is still not concluded but more of a fight-to-the-finish between these three determined players.
With some injuries still a question at hand, left tackle Saahdiq Charles and right tackle Austin Deculus, Orgeron is still willing to give these players a chance to play despite their injuries and states, “Those guys are going to get better”.
Orgeron gave high praise to several players who he believes will take on leadership roles throughout the season. The list includes quarterback McMillan, linebacker Devin White, offensive guard Garrett Brumfield, safety John Battle, defensive end Rashard Lawrence, defensive linemen Breiden Fehoko, running back Nick Brossette, and tight end Foster Moreau.
With a new offense, defense, running backs, and quarterbacks the 2018 football season is one to look forward to.
