The LSU Tigers had a great start to the 2018 season, defeating the #8 ranked Miami Hurricanes 33-17. But the tigers still feel they haven’t proved themselves. The tigers play with an edge, a chip on their shoulders.
“It was big for us,” LSU RB Nick  Brossette said. “We just came out there and handled buissness, we proved a lot of people wrong and we are excited for this week as well.”
The tigers were ranked #25 to start the season, the lowest ranking since the turn of the century, but the tigers pay no mind.
“It does really phase us, as far as my personal opinion it doesn’t really phase us,” LSU DE Breiden Fehoko said. “Never been ranked before and thats a plus to me, I think it’s better to work your way up the ranks, then to stay at the top and take a lot lumps. I think we are hungry, we have a big chip on our shoulder and we are ready to get out there.”
LSU plays southeastern this weekend and many consider them to be heavy favorites, but LSU plans on taking nothing for granted and treating every game as if it was their last.
“I just know I have something to prove and make a statement,” Brossette said.
LSU safety Grant Delpit feels as if the Tigers are underrated, like no-one believes in them.
“I think everything is about us,” Delpit said. “I think we were overlooked as a team and our defense went out and showed them. I think our offense was overlooked as well and I think they showed the people out there too that we are nothing to play with.”
Coach Ed Orgeron believes that their underdog mentality will ultimately help the Tigers. Instead of playing with pressure, they will play with something to prove.
“We got a long way to go,” Orgeron said. “Everybody knows that is not the best team we are going to play, I don’t know where they are at on the rankings, the teams we are gonna play. The schedule gets tougher, but we need to improve as the season gets on to get to where we want to go.”
LSU jumped up 14 spots in the AP poll after week 1.
