Former LSU football coach Les Miles was selected to be inducted into the  Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, the school announced Wednesday. 
Miles, who had an overall record of 114-34, will be the seventh LSU football coach to be inducted. Others include Gaynell Tinsley (1959), Bernie Moore (1963), Biff Jones (1966), Jerry Stovall (1981), Charlie McClendon (1982) and Paul Dietzel (1988).
Miles was hired in 2005 to succeed former head coach Nick Saban, who resigned to coach the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. Miles was the first first-year coach to lead his team to the Southeastern Conference championship game.
Miles guided the Tigers to five top-10 finishes. He extended LSU’s streak of consecutive seasons with at least eight wins to 16 straight. 
In 11 seasons, from 2005-15, Miles and the Tigers averaged 10 wins per season. He won more games during his tenure than any other program in the SEC during that time. Miles remains the second-winningest coach in program history.
In 2007, Miles led LSU to the SEC title game and the BCS National Champinship to win its third national championship.
In 2011, Miles was named the consensus national coach of the year when LSU went 13-0 in the regular season and were ranked No. 1 for 11 consecutive weeks. LSU won another SEC title and ultimately fell to Alabama in the national championship game. 
LSU also produced 22 first-team All-Americans and 69 NFL Draft picks — 13 of which were first-round selections — during Miles’ tenure.
