An LSUPD officer was punched in the jaw recently while attempting to apprehend a University student who ran from officers during routine questioning.
Taylor Partin, of Denham Springs, was charged with one count of disturbing the peace, one count of flight from an officer and two counts of battery of an officer. He was booked into EBRP prison.
Maj. Lawrence Rabalais, LSUPD spokesman, said two officers on foot patrol heard males yelling Sunday night on Highland Road. Rabalais said the officers went to investigate when Partin ran.
The officers chased Partin, who began punching at the officers when he was apprehended.
Rabalais said after officers brought Partin to the LSUPD station, he told them he ran because he thought the officers were trying to arrest him for an incident which had occurred earlier that evening.
