A University student is currently in critical condition at a local hospital after suffering a fall that resulted in serious injuries at the Acacia fraternity house.
Catherine Harrell, spokesperson for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, said Jason Whittle, a business administration sophomore and a member of Acacia fraternity, was in critical condition late Thursday afternoon.
East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services responded to a call from the fraternity house on West Lakeshore Drive around 6 p.m. Wednesday, said EBR EMS Public Information Officer Mike Chustz.
Acacia President Marshall Harper and LSUPD Cpt. Mark Shaw would not release details of the incident before press time.
“We are not prepared to release any information at this time other than to say that our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Harper said
Harrell said she did not know his condition upon arrival at the hospital.
Shaw said LSUPD did not respond to the accident but is continuing to investigate it.
