A ticket is the most vital accessory for entrance into TigerStadium on game day. But, without a ticket, there still are placesto experience the fun of Homecoming.
One popular establishment located at the south gates of campuson Burbank Drive is Walk-On’s Bistreaux and Bar. They offervarious Louisiana specialties, including crawfish etouffee andgumbo, and have a full bar.
Ian McGowan, a manager at Walk-On’s, said for each homegame they offer shot specials that are created to coincide with theteam LSU is playing.
Walk-On’s offers seating both inside and on the patio andhas more than 25 televisions to view the game, according toMcGowan.
Another eatery near campus popular among the LSU and Baton Rougecommunity for years is The Chimes, located outside the north gatesof campus on Highland Road.
The Chimes offers sandwiches, soups, seafood and hamburgers tofeed hungry fans. They also offer 130 beers from 40 countries and32 beers on tap, according to Trent Graves, a Chimes manager.
The Chimes has 10 televisions for viewing the game from either abooth, table or at the bar.
However, if being forced to fight traffic and parking does notsound like an enjoyable experience, there are several placesfurther from campus that offer a great atmosphere to gather andwatch the game.
On The Border Mexican Grill and Cantina located off CorporateBoulevard offers Mexican specialties including quesadillas,burritos and tacos for less than $9.
Keith Blanda, a manager at On the Border, said they offer happyhour specials all day on home game days. This offer includes2-for-1 specials on house margaritas and domestic draft beer.
Blanda also said they have five televisions for viewing thegame, three in the bar area and two on the patio.
Another place away from campus to watch the game isChili’s Bar and Grill. One location is off College Drive onConstitution Avenue and the other is off Siegen Lane in theWal-Mart shopping center.
Chili’s offers a variety of eating options including theirever-so-popular chicken crispers and southwestern egg rolls forless than $8.50. They also have a full bar.
Chili’s has a bar area with several televisions andseating options in booths, tables or at the bar.
