LSU gymnastics had their 2025 season opener against Iowa State after winning the National Championship last season. The tigers had a strong opener, winning 197.3 – 194.1.
The tigers looked strong against the cyclones, even some new faces. Freshman, Kailin Chio, performed in all four events and scored 9.900 or higher in three of the four. She fills the gap of Haleigh Bryant’s absence while Bryant recovers. Chio has been committed to LSU for two years, and her excitement to finally compete in the PMAC was evident.
While the new faces on the team pulled their weight, LSU veteran Aleah Finnegan continued to shine. She scored 9.9 or higher all-around. She is a key asset to the team.
As far as Iowa State, they looked a little rocky throughout all of the event except floor. The cyclones had an especially strong floor performance. It seemed the ladies let their nervousness get the best of them a few times too often.
If this is what the tigers bring to the remainder of their matchups a second national championship could be waiting at the end of the tunnel.
