LSU is set to host a WNBA preseason game between the Chicago Sky and the Brazil National Team on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. CT in the PMAC, where Tiger alumna Angel Reese makes her first on-court return to Baton Rouge.
“I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU,” Reese said. “It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me.”
Reese set the NCAA record with 34 double-doubles throughout the 2023 season and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. She averaged 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks as she led LSU to its first national championship in program history.
Reese was drafted No. 7 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She recorded a historic rookie season with 446 rebounds and a 13.1 rebound per game average, which are both most by any WNBA player.
Reese was named a 2024 WNBA All-Star, recording league records for the most consecutive games with a double-double with 15 and the most double-double games by a rookie with 26.
The Chicago Sky will look to rebound from a disappointing first season with Reese, where they finished 13-27 and dead last in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference.
