LSU was able to salvage the final game of their weekend series against the Omaha Mavericks, winning the third game 12-1.
“I thought they responded great,” Jay Johnson said after the win. “The affluence was great”.
After falling short of a miraculous rally in the first game, Johnson’s Tigers were more than ready to hit in game two.
The team exploded for 12 runs, but they know they can be better.
“There’s plenty of room to improve ,” Johnson said. “We let the beginning of the first game happen and we couldn’t overcome it.”
Jared Jones was a catalyst in the win on Saturday night, driving in five runs. The team scored more in this game than they did in the entire series.
“It was better than losing 5-0 on one hit. We put ourselves in a good spot.”
LSU will take the series win and look ahead to their matchup versus Nicholls State on Monday.
