The Ole Miss Rebels defeated No. 7 LSU Women’s Basketball 85-77 on senior day for the Tigers.
The Tigers led by as many as 15 in the third quarter, but turnovers allowed and Ole Miss scored 27 points off turnovers throughout the game. LSU also allowed 38 Ole Miss points in the paint as they were averaging 34 coming into the game.
“It all began in the second half,” said Coach Kim Mulkey. “Turnovers. You can’t win anything in sports by turning the ball over and we did it at the beginning of the third quarter and we did it at the beginning of the fourth quarter.”
Aneesah Morrow finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds recording her 100th career double-double. She joined Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris as the only two players with 100 career double-doubles.
Star sophomore guard Mikaylah Williams finished with 25 points and five assists in the loss and Kailyn Gilbert added 11 of her own right behind Williams.
Flau’Jae Johnson missed the game as she is dealing with a minor shin injury. Coach Mulkey said that Johnson will not play in the SEC Tournament as the team will need her fully healthy for the NCAA tournament.
