LSU Baseball pulled off an improbable win on Friday night against Tennessee. Sophomore Kade Anderson pitched a great game only giving up two runs and Junior Jared Jones would save the day with a monster walk-off home run.
Anderson pitched 7.1 innings with 11 strikeouts. This was another classic performance for Anderson. He’s been honing his craft all week in practice and it came to fruition versus Tennessee.
“Really worked on that in my midweek bullpen, just throwing every pitch with intent,” Anderson said. “And my curveball was a lot better today.”
Jones, along with the whole LSU offense, was non existent up until the bottom of the ninth. With two runners on, Jared came up to the plate and delivered in a big way. A 3-run bomb over the batters eye hit for 452 feet to seal the game for the Tigers.
“Coach Johnson says it all the time, ‘There’s no clock in baseball,’ so you got to get 27 outs against our offense and that’s tough to do sometimes,” Jones said.
LSU faces off against Tennessee on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. CT inside Alex Box Stadium in the second game of a three-game series.
