LSU defeated Tennessee 6-3 in a comeback win early Saturday morning. Coach Johnson’s team never lost faith and his guys came up big.
Senior Dalton Beck pinch hit late in the game to score two runs for the Tigers to make the score 3-2 with Tennessee trying to hold on to a one-run lead. Up to this point, Beck had only had six at-bats but he never complained and put in the work.
Coach Johnson says working with guys like this makes his job worth it.
“I think its one of those things that makes you feel good about coaching, not coming back and winning a game, but getting to coach like Dalton Beck,” Coach Johnson said.
Jared Jones came up big with a three-run walk-off home run. Coach Johnson likes how even after a bad outing versus Auburn, Jones didn’t let that bother him.
“Never got down, stayed positive,” Coach Johnson said. “I think he’s controlled the zone better again, not try to do too much. And if I had a body like that I’d probably swing for the moon sometimes too.”
LSU takes on Tennessee in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. CT inside Alex Box Stadium.
