LSU Softball players Danieca Coffey and Jalia Lassiter spoke to the media following their 8-7 walk-off loss to Southeastern, ending their season with a record of 42-16.
Coffey and Lassiter both played key roles in the back-and-forth battle between the Tigers and Lions, with Coffey going 1-4 at the plate with a run scored, and Lassiter going 2-4 with three RBI, including a double to tie the game at six.
“We’ve always leaned into the word ‘Tigers,’” Lassiter said. “We have always fought for everything.”
However, their fight wouldn’t quite be enough as the Lions would have a walk-off Fielder’s Choice to win the game and punch their ticket to the Regional Final, ending LSU’s season.
Coffey would also commit an error, her second of the Regional, which led to another Lion run.
“Their team is very fast,” Coffey said of Southeastern. “It just makes you speed up.”
While Coffey’s time at LSU comes to a close, Lassiter will prepare for her senior season as the Tigers look to reach Oklahoma CIty for the 7th time in 2026.
The Tigers finish their season on a sour note and with a record of 42-16, while the Lions prepare for a date with Nebraska, having to win twice in order to punch their first-everr ticket to the Super Regionals.
