LSU Baseball beat Arkansas 4-1 in a defensive show down in Game 4 of the College World Series.
LSU struck first and early in the second inning. Outfielder Chris Stanfield singled and catcher Luis Hernandez scored. Then with bases loaded, Micheal Braswell III was hit by Zach Root’s pitch, and Curiel scored. Before the last out, leadoff hitter Josh Pearson singles and second-baseman Daniel Dickinson scored. (3-0, LSU)
First-baseman Reece Robinett hit a home run earning Arkansas their only run on the night.
Despite the score, the stands were bleeding red for the Arkansas Razorbacks, and for the majority of the game they had the momentum. Zach Root was the ace pitcher, but he was relieved after allowing three runs in less than two innings.
Arkansas pitcher Gabe Gaekle was undoubtedly the star of the game. He pitched six innings, struck out 10 batters and only allowed one run. Gaekle did a fantastic job at keeping LSU at bats stiff and on their toes.
Another rough night for Jared Jones at the plate; he struck out all 5 at bats, which is an LSU record.
LSU ace pitcher Kade Anderson cannot be overlooked. He ended the night after seven innings with seven strike outs, one run and 100 pitches.
Next in bracket play, LSU will play UCLA on Monday at 6 P.M.
