LSU Baseball and Coastal Carolina will face off in a historic College World Series Finals. LSU Baseball players Jake Brown and Anthony Eyanson spoke to the media on Friday before Game One on Saturday.
Out fielder Jake Brown is an essential piece to this LSU Baseball program, at the plate and on defense. Brown was on the team last year and has noted that they lacked mental strength and toughness. That is not the case this year.
“I think it all goes to having the right guys on the bus. We have a locker room full of guys that show up every day super excited to compete with people that are not just their teammates but best friends,” Brown said.
Brown, like many players have before, commented on the spotlight LSU Baseball is constantly under. Being a Sulfur, Louisiana native, Brown has always dreamed of being an LSU Tiger. Many players have said, you go to LSU to win a National Championship.
“I would say nobody dreams about playing in an empty ballpark. When you’re a kid, when you’re taking swings in the backyard, when you’re doing all this stuff, you’re dreaming about playing in the biggest spotlight.”
“That’s what LSU is,” Brown said.
While many would assume Kade Anderson will pitch on Saturday, there is still a large possibility that it could be Eyanson’s shove day. He started Game One of Regionals at the beginning of the team’s post-season journey.
Eyanson is known for his ability to quickly adapt and starting him on Saturday could possibly give him a chance to relieve if there were a Game Three.
“I’m fine with pitching whenever, pitching, closing games, starting games. I think just up to this point in the season I’ve been prepared for it,” Eyanson said.
The countdown til Game One has started, and it should be a passionate and well-executed game from both sides for the entirety of the series.
